Boca Chica is a municipality (Municipio) in the province of Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic. In the city there is a municipal district (distritos municipal): La Caleta. According to the 2002 census, the municipality had 99,508 inhabitants, 46,385
live in the city and 53,123 in its rural districts (Secciones).
This is a popular beach with the same name, located about 30 km east of Santo Domingo de Guzman on the southern shore of the island of Hispaniola.
Boca Chica was originally developed by Juan Bautista Vicini Burgos, who worked on sugar plantations in the twentieth century.
